Who We Are

From hands-on builder to design-build leader

DSC began in 2015, when founder Derek Sammons became a licensed General Contractor in Northern California. In 2018 he and his wife relocated to Boise and started serving the local community, first as a one-man operation handling every trade himself, refining the process that now powers DSC’s detailed pre-construction and design systems.

Today DSC is a full design-build firm serving Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Star, and Emmett, built on the same values that started it all.

  • IntegrityTransparent pricing and honest communication.
  • CraftsmanshipQuality that endures long after completion.
  • AccountabilityClear documentation, timelines, and follow-through.

Project Files

Real projects. Real transformations.

Every DSC build starts with a real constraint: a zoning limit, a setback, a structure that has to go. Open a file to see how each one got solved.

2024-2025Boise, IDDesign and Build

The challenge

A garage from the early 1950s sat right on the property line, the City required off-street parking, and Boise code capped a detached ADU at 900 square feet or 70 percent of the main home’s size, whichever is less. On this lot, that math left far less space than the project needed.

The build

DSC guided both design and build, working through zoning limits, parking requirements, design revisions, and budget adjustments to find a path the client and the City could both approve. The finished ADU adds meaningful, cost-effective housing to an existing Boise property.

The challenge

The clients wanted a short-term rental ADU, but the existing 350 square foot garage sat on the property line with a simple slab underneath, short of both setback and foundation requirements. Boise code capped the new unit at 600 square feet.

The build

The old garage came down and a new ADU went up in its place, designed and built by DSC to make the most of the 600 square feet allowed. Sitting near Quinn’s Pond and the Boise Whitewater Park, it earned its name.

The challenge

A dedicated retirement woodshop with comfortable guest living space directly above it. Fine dust and living areas do not mix, so the two functions had to be engineered to coexist under one roof.

The build

DSC refined the client’s concept, sized a dust collection system that creates negative pressure in the shop to keep dust from moving upstairs, revised the electrical plan to match, and adjusted exterior materials to protect the budget. Built through the winter and completed just before spring.
